Alliance Highwall Mining, LLC (“Alliance”) was originally formed in June of 2003 to mine coal under contract with Island Fork Construction Company in Raleigh County, West Virginia then moved to Kanawha County, West Virginia to mine for Siata Equipment Company. From there, Alliance entered into a contract in August 2004 to highwall mine coal for Powellton Coal Company in Fayette and Clay Counties, West Virginia. While at Powellton for 34 months, Alliance produced 2,069,696 tons. Upon completion of that job, Powellton’s parent company, Fola Coal Company (Consol) entered into a contract with Alliance. In April 2009, Alliance moved its #27 miner to Wayne County, West Virginia under contract with Argus Energy, LLC. Since September 2009, Alliance has been mining in the Banner Seam for Harold Keene Coal Company in Honaker, Va.
